The Conservation and Biological Recources Study Center (KSDH) participated in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Workshop in Yogyakarta

The Conservation and Biological Resource Studies Center (KSDH) has attended an invitation from the Rector of the Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings National Workshop at UII in Yogyakarta. The KSDH Study Center represented by Bayu Kurniawan, S.Si., M.Sc as the Head of the KSDH Center followed the routine agenda of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking. This National Workshop is a collaboration between  Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) and UI Green Metric World University Rankings with the participants from the members of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Network throughout Indonesia with the theme of the Workshop on Infrastructure and Campus Environment "Green Campuses as Implementation of a Sustainable Environment".

The National Workshop was held on 27th to 28th of July 2022 in the Gedung Kuliah Umum (GKU) of Prof.Dr.dr. Sardjito, M.P.H., Kampus Terpadu Universitas Islam Indonesia on Kaliurang Street Km 14,5 Sleman, Yogyakarta which was held offline with a maximum quota of 75 participants.

On the first day, this event was opened directly by the Rector of the Universitas Islam Indonesia (Prof. Fathul Wahid, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D) and in his remarks he said that this green campus has a broad meaning, the word green means something sustainable as a shared culture for a change. Each university has the opportunity to make changes in their own way and with a cultural approach and need to be adapted properly according to the uniqueness of each university. A comfortable and safe universities will give certain attractiveness for prospective students. Then, the following remark was given by the Chairperson of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc) with resource speakers from various universities in Indonesia, namely the Universitas Islam Indonesia, Telkom University, Universitas Negeri Semarang, and Universitas Indonesia. In the first day (27/07/2022) the resource speaker was Dr.-Ing. Ir. Illya Fadjar Maharika, M.A., IAI with the theme "Green Campus: Infrastructure, Space, and Digitization. The second resource speaker was Danang Adi Kresnata, S.T., with the theme "Implementation of Building Information Modeling in the Campus Environment. The third resource speaker was Aris Hartama, S.T., M.T., with the theme of implementing Zero Waste in the Campus Environment. The fourth resource speaker was Prof. Dr. Ir. Amin Retnoningsih, M.Sc., with the theme: Implementation of Flora Conservation as a Strategy to Strengthen the Role of Green Campuses to Create a Comfortable, Beautiful, and Healthy Campus Environment. The fifth speaker is Ir. Tony Kunto Wibisono, M.T., GP., with the theme of Application of Green Building Features in Buildings at UII.

The presence of UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi on this agenda was as a member of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings since 2020 until now. The participation of UIN STS Jambi was also a strategic step to build collaboration across universities in the field of Tri Dharma of Higher Education to support the World Ranking. According to Bayu Kurniawan, S.Si., M.Sc as the participant of the National UI GreenMetric workshop from the presentation on the first day, it was very interesting since all universities were competing in realizing an environmentally friendly campus, of course this is an opportunity and a challenge in itself. Various indicators in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings also include elements of Green Building, Environmentally Friendly Campus, especially for people with disabilities. From the activities on the first day, we can see and imitate good practices in managing an Environmentally Friendly Green Campus as a form of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals Program.

On the second day (28/7/2022), the National Workshop was opened by the Executive Secretary of the Islamic University of Indonesia (Dr. Raden Bagus Fajriya Hakim, S.Si., M.Sc.) saying that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the university's business processes and has instead become an environmentally friendly business. This pandemic also brings out a new healthy lifestyle with the presence of cycling activites which is a good practice to reduce carbon emissions. The vice chairman of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (Dr. Junaidi, S.S., MA) delivered his remarks online. He said that the UI GreenMetric ranking was not just a ranking to catch up with numbers but an activity to raise awareness about a sustainable environment.

The agenda on the second day (28/07/2022) was a FGD (Focus Group Discussion) agenda with Topic 1: Sharing good practices for planning, managing, and digitizing campus infrastructure; Topic 2: Sharing good practices for implementing the Green Building vision, and Presentation of Discussion Results, Conclusions, and Commitments to Sustainable Campus Development (TILIK) by each representative by the attending Higher Education participants.

Presentation of material on the FGD Good practice of infrastructure management was delivered by the Chancellor of UIN Raden Intan Lampung (Prof. Wan Jamaluddin Z., M.Ag., Ph.D) by sharing good practices for developing Green Campus at UIN Raden Intan Lampung.

The agenda for the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (TILIK) National Workshop in 2023 will be held at Wiraraja University, Sumenep Madura.
