Collaboration between KSDH(Conservation and Biological Resources) and LH (Environmental) Study Centers in an effort to maintain ecosystems

This green movement (reforestation) cannot be separated from the ideas of environmentalists by the Conservation and Biological Resources Study Centre and the Environmental Study Centre UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi in collaboration with the community and stakeholders who are committed and strive to protect the ecosystem from degradation pressures or habitat fragmentation.

The types of plants targeted for reforestation to maintain terrestrial ecosystems were taken on August 25, 2022 at BPDAS (Watershed management center) Jambi, including Ketapang Kencana, Trembesi, Glodokan Tiang, Pucuk Merah, Angsana, Flamboyan, Tanjung, Gaharu, and Durian. This Green Movement (Reforestation) can maintain biodiversity and maintain the microclimate. This program is one of the strategic steps to deal with Global Warming. The movement of planting trees may not be directly felt by us in a short time. However, this green movement (reforestation) is carried out to ensure that future generations have the right to breathe clean and healthy air in the future. This tree planting serves as a reforestation of an area to restore its function.

This reforestation program is also a topic of discussion in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in Goal 15, that is Protecting, Restoring and Increasing the Sustainable Use of Land Ecosystems, Managing Forests Sustainably, Ending Desertification, Restoring Land Degradation, and Stopping the Loss of Biodiversity.

From this reforestation green movement, there are several benefits:

  1. Controlling threatened ecosystem functions
  2. Maintaining biodiversity and germplasm
  3. Maintaining the microclimate
  4. Reducing the effects of Global Warming, and
  5. Water conservation
