Conservation and Biological Resources Study Center of UIN Sulthan Thaha Jambi and BKSDA Jambi: The Initial Step of Future Cooperation on the Animal Conservation

Along with the implementation of programs as bearers of the vision and mission of UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, on last Thursday (19th of May), the Rector of UIN STS Jambi, Prof. Dr. H. Su’aidi, MA., Ph.D, together with the Vice Rector of Students Affairs and Cooperation Division, Dr. Bahrul Ulum, M.A welcomed a work visit from the Head of Natural Resources and Conservation Center of Jambi (BKSDA), Rahmad Saleh, S.Hut., M.Si as well as his team members, such as the head of administrative subdivision, Teguh Sriyanto, S.Hut,. M.I.L; the 2nd Regional Conservation Section head of Muara Bulian, Didik Bangkit Kurniawan, S.Hut; the 3rd Regional Conservation Section head of Muara Sabak, Faried, SP; along with the License Division staffs and others in the Rector Office at UIN Sutha Jambi. This visit was initiated invitation by the Rector to Jambi Natural Resources and Conservation Center (BKSDA) in order to strengthen the relationship and to discuss the initial step of cooperation planning between both institutions on the Three Dharma of University, namely Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service. This meeting was also attended by UIN Sutha Study Center Division, such as Conservation and Biological Resources Study Center (Chairperson: Bayu Kurniawan, M.Sc; Secretary: Aini Qomariah Manurung, M.Si.; and Staff: Sri Ramdayeni Sakunti, M.Sc.Ed), the chairman of Demography, Ethnography and Social Transformation Study Center (Ahmad Syukron Prasaja, M.Sc), and the chairman of  Sustainable Development Study Center (Imam Arifaillah Syaiful Huda, M.Sc).

In this meeting, the Rector of UIN STS Jambi introduced the vision and mission, achievements and future targets and goals of UIN STS Jambi to the Jambi BKSDA team. In addition, the results of the discussion in this meeting also conveyed the intention to form a conservation institution and sought for suggestions and input from BKSDA team regarding the plan that was being carried out. The vision and mission of UIN STS Jambi, that is to become a university as a locomotive of change, UIN STS Jambi is expected to be the first educational institution in Indonesia to be a pioneer in establishing a conservation center for protected and endangered animals which will also become a means of the Tri Dharma College program, namely education and teaching, research, and community service. This meeting is also expected to be the first step to build cooperation between UIN STS Jambi and BKSDA Jambi in the future. The Head of Jambi BKSDA welcomed the plan to form a conservation institution, and conveyed several technical aspects related to the process that will be carried out for the realization and achievement of this collaboration. At this meeting, the cooperation program between UIN STS Jambi and BKSDA can be realized through an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) and technical activities in the formation of conservation institutions and the scope of cooperation will be further discussed at the Jambi KSDA Hall.
