Smart Garden for Smart Campus UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi

UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi  launched a Smart Garden which was initiated by the Greensutha Team and Environmental Studies Center for a sustainable green campus (12/2/22).
This Smart Garden uses the concept of 'reuse water' by reusing water that has been utilized to water plants in the campus area. The reuse water source comes from the fish pond of the Rector's official residence which can accommodate up to 10,000 liters of water. This water is monthly altered and is normally no longer being used. Through this program, it is expected to be a support for a sustainable green campus.
The Rector is highly supportive with this innovation as it helps the wasted water not being reused. This activity is the basis of the sustainability program and this idea is in line with the concepts taught in Islam through the word of Allah in the Quran Surah Al Isra: 27 “Surely the wasteful are ˹like˺ brothers to the devils. And the Devil is ever ungrateful to his Lord”. Because the value and essence of sustainability is that we are currently taking advantage of the environment, such as forests, seas, agricultural products and nature, so that our children and grandchildren and future generations will not suffer from our behaviour today. Despite this probable problem, UIN Sulthan Thaha Jambi is undertaking a step further. Currently, a conservation park is being prepared in which there will be conservation of endangered animals and plants with various supporting facilities.
UIN STS Jambi is wholeheartedly in responding to environmental issues and nature conservation to provide a guarantee of natural sustainability that will be passed on to future generations.
