Tree Planting in Campus Area: Rising the Awareness toward Environmental and Climate Issues at UIN STS Jambi

UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi continues its efforts to become a green campus and promote environmental awareness by conducting a tree planting activity on its campus grounds on Saturday (05/08). Various parties participated directly in this event, including staffs from the Center for Conservation and Biological Resources Studies, the Environmental Center, the SDGs Center, the Center for Demographic, Ethnographic, and Social Transformation Studies, campus environmental management officers from UIN STS Jambi, as well as students from the Greensutha Ambassador and the Volunteer of the Center for Demographic, Ethnographic, and Social Transformation Studies. The tree planting within UIN STS Jambi's campus area was carried out to support the SDGs goals as a climate change action and to raise environmental awareness.

Approximately 400 trees, consisting of two types, namely "pucuk merah" and "pohon Ketapang kencana", were evenly planted in various areas of the campus, focusing on the parking area of the new building, the rectorate parking area, and the auditorium area, as stated by Mr. Sandi, the campus environmental management officer of UIN STS Jambi. This planting event on Saturday (05/08) marked the second phase of the overall tree planting initiative at UIN Jambi Campus 2, with a target of planting more than 2000 trees.

The activity was also supported and attended by the prominent figures of UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, including the Rector of UIN STS Jambi, Prof. Dr. H. Su’aidi, MA., Ph.D., Vice Rector II, Dr. Rodiqoh Herawati, SE., M.EI., and Vice Rector III, Dr. Bahrul Ulum, MA., as well as other dignitaries who were present to monitor and assist in the tree planting process.

 

Mrs. Syukrya Ningsih, S.Si., M.Si., the head of the Environmental Studies Center, stated, "Alhamdulillah, we are able to contribute to tree planting on the campus grounds. It is our hope that the trees we plant will bring blessings and make our campus even greener and more shaded in the future." She added.
