Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi State Islamic University sent 2 student delegations to the NSLSM (National Student Leaders on Sustainability Meeting) activity at Padjadjaran University, on behalf of Ayu Faadila (Green Sutha Ambassador) and Khairunisa accompanied by Assistant Lecturer Bayu Kurniawan, S.Sc., M .Sc (Head of the Biology Study Program FTS UIN STS Jambi) and Fevi Mawadhah Putri, S.Si., M.Si (Lecturer in Biology FST UIN STS Jambi). The UIN STS Jambi delegates were selected through internal and external selection from essays written by prospective participants on the theme of a circular economy. Internal selection is carried out on campus, and external selection is carried out by Padjadjaran University. This external selection determines the departure of delegates from each university in Indonesia.
This event will last for 3 days, starting 04-06 September 2023. NSLSM is an annual agenda initiated by UI GreenMetric World University Ranking to educate the younger generation regarding their role in sustainable environmental management. 2023 will be the third time NSLSM has been implemented, the host of the third NSLSM implementation is Padjadjaran University. The 2023 NSLSM is an activity that is attended by student representatives from all over Indonesia, UI GreenMetric World University Ranking partners, with selected participants from 42 universities, with a total of 74 students participating. The NSLSM agenda begins with a gala dinner on Monday, September 4 2023 at 19.15 by introducing traditional clothing from each participating region.
The next agenda is on Tuesday, September 5 2023, starting with the Opening Ceremony attended by the Vice Chancellor of Unpad (Prof. Dr. Ir. Hendarmawan, M.Sc)., Chair of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari , M.Sc., M.M)., Deputy Chair of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (Dr. Junaidi, MM) and the UI GreenMetric team. The 2023 NSLSM event was held at the Bale Santika Unpad Auditorium.
The series of activities carried out were the Reading of the Commitment to Protect the Environment led by Aghni (Chair of the Unpad Biology Department), followed by an explanation about UIGM delivered by Dr. Junaidi, S.S., M.A. Then continued the material presented by Umi Karomah Yaumidin, Ph.D regarding "A Transition Toward Circular Economy: Transformative Learning in Education for Sustainability Development", Prof. Hendarmawan regarding "Circular Economy Implemented at Padjadjaran University", Dr. Alfred Boediman regarding "Circular Economy Applications in the Professional World", and Michelle Azista, M.Si.
The next event was a Forum Group Discussion, previously NSLSM participants had been divided into 6 large groups which discussed six important indicators related to environmental management on campus. The six indicators provided are Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), Education and Research (ED). The UIN STS Jambi delegation was included in 2 FGD themes, Ayu Faadila in the Education and Research (ED) theme and Khairunisa in the Waste (WS) theme.
On the agenda for the third day, Wednesday 6 September 2023, NSLSM participants visited Ecoriparian Unpad, and an introduction to the Unpad Arboretum by Joko Kusmoro, Drs., M.P. Followed by environmental action, namely planting trees and releasing fish into the lake, then a campus tour visiting the Rectorate Building of Padjadjaran University. A delegate from the Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi State Islamic University, Ayu Faadila, was one of the best FGD group participants on the Education and Research (ED) theme.
